Welcome!

Having lived in Kendall since 1987, which is when I moved to Miami, I have seen and felt the many changes - good and bad - that have shaped our community to what it is now. The common denominator has been unchecked growth and sprawl, mostly clueless and uncaring elected officials, and unbearable traffic congestion.

So I decided to do something about it and was appointed to serve on the Kendall Community Council 12 in 2003 by then Miami-Dade Commissioner Jimmy Morales, and stayed on until 2006. Having been a candidate for State Representative in 2004 and 2010, and for Miami-Dade County Commission in 2006, I have had the opportunity to talk to tens of thousands of Kendall residents in the past 8 years.

Many are aware of the shennanigans going on in county government and in Tallahassee, but are busy taking care of their families. They may not have the time (can you say 2-3 hour commute everyday?!) or may not know where to look to find the gory details of what our elected officials are doing on behalf of special interests, instead of taking care of our needs. Others have become cynical and choose to look the other way because "all politicians are alike, so why vote, why complain, why care, they'll just keep doing what they want".

Well, as my mother would say, "I didn't take you out of Cuba so you could..." (fill in the blank), and in this case, the sentence would be completed with "look the other way". Democracy can only live if we feed it with participation, watchful eyes, and lots of spirited discourse. I have chosen this venue to participate, keep a watchful eye, and exchange ideas on the issues that impact our lives. I look forward to a great time!
